~~ROCKCLIMB~~ Wednesday 2/23

Rock climbing is something I got into as a kid with my Dad taking us on outdoor adventures every other weekend. I remember having races to the top of the REI wall on random Tuesday nights, I believe it was Christopher who got the nickname "Spiderman" from those races :)  We became certified belayers when I was about 16 and my family and I have been members of a couple different gyms and climb whenever we can all get together. I love it! Unfortunately I have only been a handful of times in the last 5 years, and when I went I surprised myself at how much skill and strength I had lost!! It bummed me out and Ive been wanting to get back into it ever since.

SO.. we added it to the list.

Rock climbing- NEXT Wednesday night- 2/23

We are meeting at Tiffanys house at 8:15pm

Then carpooling over to Rock'n and Jam'n indoor climbing.
Entry should be 12 dollars since we will be getting there after 9pm.

Bouldering Only is a 1/2 price entry free on Wednesday nights too.

Wear comfortable clothes, doesn't matter what shoes, you can rent the gear package for $10 and that includes climbing shoes.

The Gym is open until 11pm so if you cant meet at 8:15, you can meet us there whenever.

Rock'n and Jam'n

We plan on getting something to eat afterward (Which I personally will be really happy about, I'm on day 3 of the cleanse and the 23rd will be the last day of this torture!) so if you carpool, plan on that too!

See ya there!

Its Massive! Plenty of variety for all levels of climbers

Day One- CLEANSE

Just letting everyone know we started today. So far  its been water, tea and a plum.. its only 11 am the first day and I'm a little worried. haha
Come on Meg.. Suck it up ;)

Make Homemade Pasta

Making homemade pasta was a blast. Actually wasn't complicated at all and tasted decent. Minus one ingredient.. Kyle.. you know what we are referring to here... ;)

Tiffany went and bought a Pasta Roller- She had been wanting one for awhile. and we decided to make ravioli so we didn't have to wait for it to dry at all. Just boil  and eat.  Kyle found the recipe for the filling and the dough, and we all donated ingredients.

While Tiffany and Kyle worked diligently on perfecting the recipe, TJ and Scott supervised. Granted they may have been worn out from babysitting Tiffanys girls while she and I took our yoga class! Still.. had to capture the essence of the moment!

Soo.. knead the dough...

roll the dough..

strike a pose...

ok roll more dough.. haha crap we didn't realize how much we made!

add filling... (laying the dough over a mini muffin tin pan was Tiffanys idea, brilliant.. as usual!)
Notice the tomato on top some fillings. That was my brilliant idea.... not so brilliant. haha it got boycotted 8 ravioli in. Good thing too, kind of nasty.. I'll admit it!

Add the egg to seal the dough and add the top layer

Cook and Serve!

Taylor, Ginger, Tiffany, Talisha, TJ,  Kyle, Scott,

I think the whole group can agree that the orange zest could have been left out (although I think if we added a orange sugar syrup it could have been a great desert ravioli! Even so, we ate it and liked it, the dough tasted great and we didn't overstuff them! We were worried about possible exploding ravioli.
We especially like the bread with oil and vinegar appetizer Kyle brought. fav. I think the phrase "I could eat this for the rest of my life and be fine" was repeated numerous times through out the night.

Warning.. before watching video, please note TJ rolling the dough may be inappropriate for children, We all had nightmares..

(We had so much fun eating.. I never checked back in!! haha oops!)

Success! and Check!

Take a Yoga Class- CHECK!

Wow Yoga was AWESOME.

We met at Vitamin Cottage and slammed some 'Naked' probiotic fruit juice before we walked over to the studio and signed up. Ruby at the front desk was exactly what I would expect for a Yoga teacher. She had bright red lipstick and a bandana wrap in her hair, complete with the thick square glasses at the end of her nose.

I was rushing to change and get my mat ready to get a spot in the back of the room. I didn't need everyone to see me falling down and making a fool of myself!  The room temp walking in was probably about 85 degrees and since it was a C 1.5 Hot Yoga class the high was about 95 degrees(it felt like 150 freakin degrees).
I learned a few terms..Tadasana(tree pose), Chaturanga Dandasana, and then she pulled the insane.. bakasana.. I literally laughed out loud when she started explaining how to get into this pose. I think our favorite pose was the Savasana.. in other words "corpse". haha lay down and don't move for 2 minutes. IT WAS AMAZING.   It was almost even a spiritual experience. Taking it seriously and  truly concentrating on what your body was telling you and focusing on each individual muscle really gave me such a great perspective on what Yoga is.  Meghan was much better at the poses than me but there were a few times when we exchanged "wtf" looks and giggled. For your first time in Yoga class I highly recommend doing it with a best friend. We walked across the street and shared a plate of sushi afterward. Perfect nightcap.

Your first week at Corepower is free so I went tonight with Tiffany. We went to a beginners class which was more basic than the class I took with Meghan and not a heated room but I loved it still. Tiffany has horrible balance but actually did a lot better than me at following directions. I just copied whatever the girl in front of me did. Unfortunately the girl in front of me was sort of in her own world and kept doing her own variations that were sort of complicated! I "grew my branches" when no one else was and I did the "crow pose" ( ok attempted it ) before the instructor told us too. Lesson learned.

So glad we checked this off the list this week. I am addicted and plan on finding time at least once a month to take an hour and do hot Yoga for my well being.  This whole list concept is actually coming together!!

Namaste. CHECK.

I was looking for a good picture to end the blog and came across the GINGERbread man yoga poses. I mean.. how perfect?? had to add it. hahaha LOVE it.

Do a Body Cleanse- UPDATE

Postponing for a week because Mego wants to cleanse too and she is traveling this weekend. I think it will be way more fun with my best! Plus we are good at griping to each other and telling each other to suck it up! If anyone else wants to join let us know! You can comment on the blog or email me!

NEW CLEANSE DATE:
2/16-2/23

Do a Body Cleanse

Ive done cleanses before, and I fast food and water once a month for spiritual reasons but I haven't ever lasted more than a weekend. I did some research and without spending a ton of money and taking all kinds of supplements, I put together a combination of cleanse foods/juices.

"If you feel "congested" from too much food -- or the wrong kinds of food -- you may want to detoxify. If your energy level is low, if you have been taking many medications that have not been eliminated from your system, a detox may help you feel better."

I think a week will be long enough to be a struggle and actually make a difference. Its going to be pretty broad parameters as far as what I can and cant ingest, but basically this is what i'm limiting it to:

Greens (salad mostly, baby spinach- Meg you know how much I love that baby spinach!)
Brown Rice (occasionally)
Any Fruits
Greek Yogurt

Water
Fruit Juices (probably sticking with the 'Naked' brand cause they have so many great boosters and they are organic)

So i'm starting Wednesday cause I need to go shopping and then going till next wednesday- 2/9-2/16.
If youre down and want to see how long you last, email me! It should be quite interesting. I may also borrow my dads Juicer and make some of these recepies. If I'm feeling really brave..
